Well, the sector is almost done, I have 4 more sub-sectors to finish up locating planets, and then I will start writing up some more detailed planet descriptions. I do need to decide if there will be more Amber and Red Zones in the sector. The Rim Scouts do the listing, as there is no Traveller's Aid Society around. There are Rim Scout bases, larger or smaller in most of the sub-sectors, and some of the planet populations might be glad to help a ship in distress. How much they will expect i ...More Read More

Well, I just talked with an old friend of mine, Harold Johnson, formerly of TSR, by several incarnations ago. As he has been at GaryCon from GaryCon Zero, I figured that he would have some idea as to what would work there and what would not. It looks like my idea for a Traveller scenario and a Dungeon and Dragons scenario will work. Now, to get things written up and characters determined. His recommendation was pre-generated characters to save time in the game for gaming, and not rolling up ...More Read More

Well, I had lunch with a friend from church, and we spent a lot of time discussing naval history, as he is a history major and former naval officer. Nice time there, but too much food. I am glad that I only ordered the half-order of biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs on top. I would hate to think what a full order would look like.

Then spent the day helping in the church office, covering the phones for the church secretary who was heading downtown to the Kris Kringle Market with her d ...More Read More

Well, on top of all else that I am doing, I have started to work on a Bestiary for the Cepheus Engine, again looking at simplifying animal creation and attempting to work up some type of encounter tables. The encounter tables will take some time, but the bestiary might not. I already have a lot of animal illustrations that are copyright-free, so images will not be a problem. The min focus will be Terran animals, as that is what I have. I will have to see about some of the animals of science ...More Read More

There are some bugs in SectorMaker that I am discovering. I have one system were the stellar listing for a double system is both Dwarf, but I have a very large solar system with a habitable planet. Quite odd. I guess that is what the planetary write-ups will cover, along with possible natives that do not show up on the world description.

There are going to be quite a few worlds in the Rimward end of the sector that will have "X" star port listings, and apparently "0" population. The "X" s ...More Read More

I cannot believe how much SectorMaker has speeded up getting my Piper-Norton Out Rim Sector put together. One sub-sector is already about done, and more planets are going in some of the other sub-sectors to use as starting points. It definitely beats rolling dice, but then, I would going to set up the planet parameters myself anyway. The main thing with the dice rolling was location. With surplus planets in most of the sub-sectors, I can pick and choose what feels right, and move them aroun ...More Read More

There are some members of the forum that appear to take great delight in sneering at the military. This does not thrill me at all, being a disabled veteran. I suspect that these miscreants would not dare to make such comments to my face, and hide behind the mask of anonymity given by the Internet. I also suspect that these clowns have never been in the military and would shriek bloody murder if they suddenly were drafted.

The problem is that if I make a retort, then I am the one slammed ...More Read More

I woke up and decided to check online as I am awake.

I figured out how to use the touch screen planet adjustment on SectorMaker. The result was two planets built fairly quickly to close to how I want them. Close enough so that any differences can be covered in the written planet description. This should speed up getting the Out Rim Sector organized by quite a bit. A few of the sectors generated in the latest effort can be used just about as it, with a few planets going away. At least tempor ...More Read More

Aside from getting tired of being attacked by some chaotic evil maniacs, who probably cannot drink legally, I am still there. The maniacs I figure that I can outwait while on vacation, and then they get bored and go inactive, and I busily raid their inactive planets. The operators are pretty smart as they keep giving everyone the free use of their Command and Staff officers as boosters to various things, figuring that you will get hooked on them and buy their services from then on.

I am going to try to consolidate all of my background posts to the Cepheus Engine forum, and see how much interest in it. It takes time and effort to post, and if no one is looking, then I will not worry about updates, and simply get the sector and game rules finished. Those might make some money.

I do need to get more clip art out, and also work more on the Fast Magic supplement stuff. Just dealing with the day-to-day things and the pain makes things a bit slow.
