SpaceBadger's Blog: BBCodes stopped working in this Blog Description, so I moved my Links down to a Blog Entry and made it Sticky, so the latest new Blog Entries will actually be below (following) the Links entry.
I needed to make this reference for myself, so figured I might as well post it in the Characters thread, then decided it would be a good reference here in the blog as well...
This will not have the detailed backstories, but I will link back to the appropriate post in the Character thread where each character was intr

I received another PM this evening asking about the combat rules for this game, and gave what has become my standard reply:
Quote:
I've requested comments and suggestions on combat rules several times, and Sabredog was the only one who ever responded. He suggested either a Striker variant or straight CT. After discussion, we decided the Striker variant was too deadly for this campaign, and went w straight CT.
Nevertheless. the question got me started thinkin

Another "not good" day for working. I made some suggested revisions to the Fortunate Son Ship Document, wrote some stuff about equipment, copied Sabredog's stuff about the Launch - not a lot accomplished. Kinda stuck on the ship-share stuff, and too medicated to think clearly to figure it out.
Finally feeling a little better now, and here it is after 1AM. Maybe get some work done now, but can't stay up too late, due to med appts tomorrow.
I didn't get all of the details of shipboard equipment finished, or the "ship's business" part w shares and finances, or the current condition of the ship.
But I did get all of Sabredog's specs and notes added and edited, and a lot of additional material added to go with his stuff, and his deckplans added, so you can look at all of tha

Finally, here is the long-awaited list of possible homeworlds for you to choose from for your character, and also some of the worlds on the pre-game itinerary of the Fortunate Son, from when Hampton Rhodes took over as Captain and re-named the ship, through start of game as you come out of Jump in Reavers' Deep sector.
If you need to set some date in your backstory and want to count backward from the start of the game, here it is: 8 August, 3731

We are coming up quickly on our intended date to Start Playing the Game, August 8 or 9, depending on exactly when everything comes together. I am working madly on the setting, have several hooks planned to toss out for your consideration. Sabredog is working on the ship and deckplans. The rest of you have your characters prepared to one degree or another.
Here is what I see going on between now and starting play; feel free to ask questions or make su

Background: the PCs have landed their ship at a Class D starport on a backwater world in Reavers' Deep, have already checked in and gotten connected to local infonet, have received their "Welcome, Visitors" message with local rules and advice to visitors. It is local night-time, so they won't be able to make any formal business contacts until morning, but they are eager to get out and work on less formal contacts, rumors, etc.
This example will refer to players using the

Sigh. Getting a bit depressed and disillusioned with the random chaos that is a pregenerated Traveller sector.
You may have seen some of my threads and forum posts last night as I was delving into the expected Vilani colonization patterns in Daibei sector. I have all of the Daibei sector data in my database now, ready to query, sort, slice and dice. Should be a piece of cake to map out the prime Vilani colonies, associated outposts, then advance through historic expansions during the Rul

Got a lot done tonight on the MS Access database, now that I can work on it more comfortably on my home laptop. Some new queries and a nice form to make the backdating easier to keep track of.
Two steps forward, one step back... the Reavers' Deep data is looking good, but I discovered that the Daibei sector data is messed up, will need to look at it tomorrow to figure out why... possibly something in the fixed-width data being off from what I had for the Deep.
