SpaceBadger's Blog: BBCodes stopped working in this Blog Description, so I moved my Links down to a Blog Entry and made it Sticky, so the latest new Blog Entries will actually be below (following) the Links entry.
Back where a friend is a friend... (or at least a well-motivated NPC!)
Yeah, I followed a whim a couple weeks ago and asked Magnus if I could bring my old PC Frank Masuda (from his previous attempt at a T5 Permatic Imperium PbP game, in 2014) back to life in his new T5 Permatic Imperium PbP game. Mags said Yes, so I'm in a Game! We've been getting off to a bit of a slow start, just trying to get our 3 party members all FTF at the downport, but I think we've fi

I don't know if this emoji is actually new or not, just that I never saw it before (you can find it by clicking [More] at the bottom of the "Smilies" box).
But it certainly looks like it could have been custom-made for me, copying the art from an old (late 90s? early 00s?) internet video (I forget, how did we exchange such things before YouTube and FaceBook?).
[Ahem. Had a hard time figuring out where to post this. If it reads a little weird in parts, that's because it started out as an email letter to my friend timerover51 and morphed in the course of writing into a forum post in which I'm seeking the ideas of CotI at large.]
[And now it's a blog post as well!]
Glancing back at what I wrote about what [he] wrote about what Piper wrote , I was thinking again about Piper's early-Federation nuclear-electric power units and later-TFH direct conversion of matter to energy. We both had problems thinking how to use those in a roleplaying game such as Traveller.
Now, I think our problem wasn't so much figuring out the mundane effects, as not =wanting= some of those effects and their natural consequences.

I am just over the moon at having a friend (who wishes to remain anonymous) sponsor me for Moot membership! Among other things, that means I have this Blog back (can write new entries again) and have a decent sized PM mailbox again so I don't have to manage it every couple days (download and delete) to make room for incoming PMs!
Aside from the member benefits, I urge all CotI regulars to join the Moot at whatever Rank you can afford, just to support th

Had trigeminal neuralgia since Dec 2012. Finally got my surgery for that about three weeks ago, felt worse than I did before the surgery. Came back to doctors this week for some follow-ups, got violently ill, back to the ER to get admitted w diagnosis of meningitis - still trying to figure out what kind of meningitis exactly, so not sure how long I'll be in here on super-duper-antibiotics. Looking forward to some TL advances in medicine while I am still around to benefit. ...More
SpaceBadger Status Update: So, I lived through the brain surgery (either that or I’m a ghost with great telekinesis skills for computer operation). Still not ready to resume as player; haven’t yet gotten over the “hump” of actually feeling better than I did before the surgery, although I do feel I’ll be getting past that soon. Also, hand-eye coordination seems to be lagging, so I make more typing errors and then it takes me longer to spot and fix them. Hoping that too shall pass before long.
Hello, friends, and thank you for your prayers and kind wishes.
I made it though the brain surgery and thought I was all good to go, but then the surgical meds wore off and I started vomiting a lot, plus the old pains came back in new and exciting locations, plus some totally new spike levels that will require me to revise my whole "pain levels 1-10" as the American doctors like to ask it.
That has been the past four days pretty much, as they experimented with various anti-

I wish you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year, including all the gaming you want!
I'm looking forward to finally getting the neurosurgery for my trigeminal neuralgia next Monday, Jan 12th, hoping for good results so I can get off of all of these meds I take and get back to a semi-normal life, whatever that is. Until then, I'm still spending most of my time either sleeping or too groggy from meds to be good for much of anything.
Neurosurgery to relieve my trigeminal neuralgia is now set for 12 January 2015. Then comes phasing off of my meds (most are too strong to quit cold turkey) and physical rehab to get me back on my feet.
Until then, mostly sleeping a lot with the help of Benedryl because the pain meds are not covering most of the pain; or, if the pain is too much to sleep then I just lie in bed watching TV or movies on Netflix or Hulu. Meds make it hard to concentrate enough to h

I was just checking email and saw a notice that I had a PM from a friend here, who was concerned about my recent absence. I hadn't realized that it has been so long since I had posted anything, so I just want to advise those with whom I am involved in games that I might not be around for awhile.
My trigeminal neuralgia has been worse the past few weeks - not sure the meds are helping much at all. Most of my time I am either on enough meds to knock me out and le
