So, it seems like the older we get, the older everyone else does as well. I remember my martial arts instructor from when I was in high school. When I saw him again after many years absence, the dude had no changed one iota. But I guess "movie stars" do change.

I'm not sure what to say about her. And for someone who made veiled promises of closing his blog, I feel like an idiot to keep making entries ... I'm just not sure what to say about her. I liked her performances. My hormones did ...More Read More

I attempted to contact more than one lawyer over the last three years, so I asked the question about copyright. I do have a book that I've read called Patent It Yourself which talks about copyright. I also contacted the BAR Association lawyer referral service, and was helped twice for a lawyer. Allegedly there are no lawyers who specialize in copyright law all throughout San Ferancisco or San Mateo County according the SF BAR Lawyer Referral hotline, which seems unlikely.

But, what can I ...More Read More

Or that's what Hollywood thinks, and perhaps a good portion of the game industry.

Curious then how it is that complex board games that cater to older generations are published for the genre. Ergo the genre either doesn't know it's own audience, or Hollywood is wrong.

When I went to my first Star Trek convention in ... what now, 1975? 74?, it was at the local JC, and the crowd was ostensibly college age and older. I was the only kid in a sea of adults, young and old alike. When I went ...More Read More

I saw it. What I wanted to write about it on the thread in the General Discussion area would have been a novel. But then I rethought it again, and decided that some of my observations are essentially trade secrets, and I don't want to spill those because I want to use them on my films (if I ever get a chance to produce them).

Rogue One, like I said on another forum I thought this film was going to be about Rogue Squadron from the Star Wars PC games. Rogue One was an X-Wing. But here it's ...More Read More

A Traveller "no no" is Time Travel. Eh, not a big deal. I'm not a Time Travel afficionado / fanatic, but seeing the occasional Time Travel story on TV, in a movie, or even reading one by some cool author.

I never believed in Time Travel, leaving it to the realm of fantasy that could be disguised as scifi, but it made for good story material anyway.

But, my opinion might be changing. Accordig to Michio Kaku the fabric of time space may be bent, and, if you get near such a bent fabric, ...More Read More

Okay, I've held off posting this for a long time, but here it goes.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay way back in the mid 90s, when I was either on AOL or one of the indy ISP providers back in the good old 14.4kbps days, I came across a site out of Sweden called "Deviant ART". It was mostly Swedish or Nordic "sci fi" artists rendering Japanese anime knock offs. Absolutely nothing original in spite of what the copy said.

In typical Nordic fashion the hosts got all haughty and banned my ...More Read More

One of my favorite things to do for Traveller was to whip out the penthouse hostage situation. But, for a "science fiction adventure in the far future" game, or so is advertised, this wasn't exactly blowing up the Death Star nor escaping the cannibalistic Moorlocks (ah, memories ... I gotta watch George Pal's film again ). It was a police or paramilitary scenario.

And that's sorta-kinda what "space opera" is, or leans towards. Real life drama projected into the far realms of a tomorrow ...More Read More

Star Trek is in syndication, a new show called Space 1999 has been striving to replace the heavy weight sci-fi series, Lucas's Star Wars is all the rage, and Gygax's D&D is making inroads into American society.

Net access is restricted to missile silos and a few select universities, Star Trek conventions are the big thing with buttons reading "Star Trek Lives!", and sci-fi is hitting new horizons with what would be the gaming boom of the 1980s.

Creating that wave was Traveller. But the o ...More Read More

Apparently this aired in the UK under the "Disney's Willow" title. I guess Disney is staking out its territory.

What does Willow, a 1988 fantasy film, have to do with Traveller? Apart from the Barbarian character class, not a whole lot.

I will note that when Willow hit the big screens I avoided it because it looked like a film that everyone would go see. Ergo I avoided the thing. And there was just something about it that said to me "wait for it to his Blockbuster", when Blockbuster w ...More Read More

*MAJOR EDIT*

The thrust of this entry is to observe rampant racism and hacking on game servers. I have some history, real and personal anecdotes, of what I've witnessed over the years.

I've got to rethink this post, but, it has been my pointed observation that there is a "it's better to cheat" psychology combined with an extreme racist psychology that's running rampant on a lot of game servers.

Admittedly a lot of it has just been the usual baiting of my specific person, and it appear ...More Read More
