Well, my Concealed Carry application is moving forward, and I passed the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course along with it. Based on my observations, someone used to semi-automatic pistols is not going to understand a single-shot revolver at all unless shown how to use it. I still prefer the .45 Colt M1911, but I will have to see if I can still shoot it well or not.

I have been going through Scheer's book on the High Seas Fleet in WW One, along with Tirpitz's memoirs and Hamilton's Gallipoli ...More Read More

Aside from working on the bestiary, I keep thinking that I should get to work on some sample vehicles for the Out Rim, and give thought to posting them. As I have a fair number of planets with lots of water, some nautical vessels would make sense, probably using mainly wind power for propulsion, along with some basic steam vessels. I do have "Vinland" using steam ships for river transport, and the more advanced planets, especially the Space Viking ones, would be using nautical ships as well.

Looking over what I me previous post, I realized that I had forgotten some things. First, given the Ancients apparent tendency to scatter humans all over the place in what is the Imperium and elsewhere, they might have just as readily scattered Terran flora and fauna all over as well. That would mean you could have Terran animals inhabiting planets in the Imperium along with Terran plants to support said animals. That could include aquatic creatures and ecosystems as well. given the wide ran ...More Read More

I think that what I am going to focus on in the next couple of weeks is getting a bestiary put together and out on DriveThru for CE/Traveller. I have more than enough animal artwork, both color and black and white, to do several, along with sea creatures and birds, plus some prehistoric animals. I figure the prehistoric one can show up in the Piper-Norton Sector, brought by the Krell, Droyne, the Baldies, and who knows else, as there are a fair amount of ruins in the sector. Then there will ...More Read More

Given the resurrected discussion regarding Traveller 4 brings up an interesting idea. I had thought about putting the time frame of my sector at around 1100 for the 3rd Imperium. However, putting it back roughly a thousand years or so would put it about contemporaneous with T4, or in that vicinity. The Long Night and break-up of the Rule of Man would not have that much effect to the Rimward of Terra, given the distances involved. That would also make the mixture of Piper's nuclear-electric ...More Read More

Again, I am odd man out with supporting Trump. Like Facebook, it is better not to know someone's politics if you are going to be sharing a forum with them. I probably have given some people more reason to dislike me, but such is life. As I see if, if I go through life worrying about who I might offend, I will never say anything. It is best to know one's enemies anyway.

As for that idiot Khan, did it ever occur to him and his backers that some people simply like to hurt other people? I d ...More Read More

Well, I have another person ticked off with my comments on the vehicle design book, so it looks like any more comments on that in the forum are not going to be welcome. Given my background, I am not going to change my views. I will just chug along and see what happens when I start getting stuff out. I do not think that they can block me from putting out my own version of the Cepheus Engine rules, but one never knows. Considering how much I am going to be changing them, I am not sure if they ...More Read More

It looks like no one likes the post on doing some research, which does not exactly thrill me, but then, I like to do research. I figure the more research you do for a product, the better the product will likely be. Then there is the converse.

I have been going through Edward Attwood's The Modern Warship, from 1913, which is a very useful book, as many of the design parameters do not change. According to D. K. Brown, Attwood was head of the battleship design division in World War One, and ...More Read More

It would be nice if some of the people putting out vehicle design guides would actually do some research on what they are looking to design. As some of them are in the UK, it should not be that hard to track down some copies of books on British warship construction or copies of early Brassey's Naval Annual. The wartime costs of U.S. aircraft for the Army Air Force is in both the Official U.S. Army history and the USAAF history by Craven and Cate. Going through some of the U.S. Army Official ...More Read More

Well, given that the Cepheus Engine group has come out with a vehicle design book, I probably need to get to work on a vehicle book for the Out Rim. I do need one, along with some standard ship designs, so I might as well start working on one. As the sector is not excessively high tech, and has a lot of lower tech worlds, focusing on historical vehicles up to roughly Tech Level 8 should be the way to go. I will have to figure out art work for higher tech level vehicles, or just go with a fai ...More Read More
