An individual on the forum, who shall remain nameless. asked the question if the United States should be regarded as an Amber Zone. That is beneath the dignity of the forum to ask such as question. Where was this individual when Antifa was busily rioting all last summer? His/Her/Its political leanings are extremely obvious.

As for the answer to the question posed, it is an unequivocal NO. Now, if the individual wished to ask the question regarding Russia, then the answer may be yes, wi ...More Read More

Well, we have a new president. How long he will remain so is a good question. How long his handlers can hide his cognitive decline will last up to the first meeting with a foreign leader outside of the White House. Then it will get interesting. As for the claim of having respect for the military, you might want to check on how the National Guard, still in Washington, is being treated. Note, you will have to do some digging, as the so-called "mass media" is not covering it, which does confi ...More Read More

Given all what has been going on, I have been doing some thinking about what is worth dying for. Three songs came to mind, in no particular order. They are as follows:

The Star-Spangled Banner
The Battle Hymn of the Republic (The Army Band has a great video on YouTube)
Creed, sung by Third Day in Portland, Maine (also on YouTube).

The first two are pretty obvious, given my Army service, as I was commissioned at the end of Vietnam, and understood that when putting on the green uniform, ...More Read More

We got back yesterday from visiting our son in Michigan. The hotel where we stayed had this little sign in the bathroom telling us how many million gallons of water were being used to wash towels that had hardly been used, so please do not discard towels without thoroughly using them.

I figure that this had to be one of California's headaches to inflict on the rest of the country and planet. The hotel we were at was in a small town in Michigan, which probably had a town septic system and a ...More Read More

My wife and I were talking after the election about Columbus Day and Thanksgiving, and how much longer would they be celebrated. We figure that Columbus Day is on borrowed time, and depending on how the Senate goes, it may no longer be observed next year. Instead, we will have something called "Indigenous People's Day" to place guilt trips on all people of European descent for how nasty we were to all of the peace-loving and innocent indigenous people that were here prior to Columbus. Now, a ...More Read More

I have gone through Sword of Cepheus, and it does look interesting. I would have to give the combat system a try, and also spend some time working on the magic. I have been adding some rank names to various character classes, and I need to check if I can post some ideas on the forum. There are a fair number of typos that need to be cleaned up Naval combat really needs work, as prior to the development of fairly heavy guns, the only way to sink a ship prior to about 1500 was ram it or burn it ...More Read More

Looks like Dachau was not exactly popular, probably because viewers had some idea as to what they might be reading. If they think reading is bad, they should try viewing the photos. I am glad that they are not in color, just black and white. Those are bad enough.

I had a couple of thoughts yesterday, peaked by reading some original D&D stuff, along with thinking about the post dealing with good backgrounds for scouts in World War 2.

For Conan, I started thinking about adapting his char ...More Read More

Rather than working on some of my other projects, I am presently working on transcribing, from a not real good mimeograph, the initial report on the Dachau concentration camp done for Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Force, immediately after the liberation of the camp. When I say immediately, the data in the report was taken two and three days after the camp liberation, so extremely fast. The report is hard to read for two reasons. One, it is not a good copy, but it is what was pos ...More Read More

  #250 New November 7th, 2020 08:51 PM
It is always interesting, if not easy work, to do cleaning in the garage. We are in the middle, by we I mean my wife and myself, of major cleaning in the garage, to get rid of a lot of stuff collected over the years which is no longer needed, or chewed up by various and sundry small critters: mice, shrews, and chipmunks are the most likely suspects.

One result is the re-discovery of a large number of books and copies that I had lost track of. One book in particular, published around 1898, ...More Read More

Today I hit 69, and I feel like about 169. That is the way it has been most of last week. Hopefully, I will be in better shape and spirits tomorrow when we are supposed to drive to my daughter's house to celebrate my birthday. It will be good to see them and their new puppy, Daisy, who is growing like a weed. She is a Welsh Corgi, so she brings back a lot of memories of my parents dog, who was also very much a Welsh Corgi. So, we will see how it goes.

I do need to get back to work on so ...More Read More
