Well nest HGS realease looks like being about a week away. Funny how much "better" my programming is funny years later. Found a number of odd unhandled exceptions that must have been hanging around since it was created. The new version will put the ship and squadron designers into one app. And as soon as I can lay my hands on a linux box, should have a cross platform version available.

(well my CE notepad if truth be told)

The recent discussion on the TML about T4 has lead me to believe some new M0 material is long overdue, so... I'm going to write some (in amongst my 70+ hour work week, coding Hgs and keeping my LSVT partner happy). Should be fun. Thinking of basing it around the Winter Blooms article I wrote for JTAS, probably advanced to around 100

Well no reports of any issues with HGS v1.15 (yes I know its only been 36 hours) so will resume work on the next version.

So far the priority list is:
1) Integrate TCS and HGS
2) Finally get around to fully supporting T20
3) Add the refit option
4) Add support for power projection (depended on me getting a copy of it so I can have the conversion rules)
5) Add support for HG3
6) Add user editable spinals and weapon factors
7) Add more craft and user defined slots
8) Add support for Mg ...More Read More

Pretty much what it says on the can. This adds the long awaited ability to export the size and cost of each component. Also a minor improvement to the interface. A row of buttons on the main screen that does the same as the menus.

The new file is up on http://www.downport.com/amv/software/hgs.html and I will be posting it to the CT-starships list and here shortly (but need to take my long suffering partner to lunch first)

Regrettably the time frame for the next full version of HGS just got pushed back *significantly*. It seems there is an issue with switching from Delphi to Lazarus and there is a fatal error in the squadron designer. Fixing this will require significantly altering this section of code, in effect amounting to a complete rewrite. So I'm taking the opportunity to integrate the two separate programs into one.

However, I will finish off the component export first (given that its long been the most ...More Read More

A lot of other programmers have told me I "over comment" my code. Having to revisit code I've not looked at for something like 15 years I am increasingly coming to the conclusion that in fact I don't comment enough. Still working my way through it and on track to have a definitive HGSv1.2 ready in about a week.

Well I'm sitting here slowly plowing my way through the component export feature of HGS. The visibility requirements of the original project are really coming back and biting me in the behind now, have TStringLists flying every which way Not to mention trying to remember how the heck I did things 15 years ago. Up to the weaponry section now.

Got the genesis of a M0 adventure in the Ley sector brewing in my head and a couple of casual encounters.
