Back in 27 May 2013, a traveller kickstarter for “Six Guns Lasers” was successfully funded. I was one of the backers. Everything looked great, I had some emails with Michael Cross (the project’s creator) about my pledge details and I was looking forward to the project’s conclusion.

Then, since June of that year, nothing.

I found Michael’s facebook page and nothing was being posted there, either. I came to the conclusion that something must have happened. perhaps he had passed away or ...More Read More

Received a letter today (31-Dec-2014). Addressed to "Hemdian" and from the "Office of the Emperor". Not sure what the mailman made of that.

Inside were "Season's Greetings from The Far Future" and another Patent of Nobility. This one for the Count of Shakiiga (Core 2938). Very cool. Thank you Marc.

A pilot for a Traveller TV series is being made down in Kentucky. It is being funded by a Kickstarter and one of the perks of that Kickstarter was to be able to review the script. I have that perk (plus the right to name one or two things) and while I can reveal no details due to an NDA I can say I have now reviewed the script and posted back my comments and corrections.

I say this to explain why there has been almost a week’s slippage in my project to make a T5 Index. There will also be ...More Read More

Consistantly people keep saying the T5 BBB needs an index. I figure I should create one but the enormity of the task has put me off. Until now.

The plan is to read each page in the BBB and note down each keyword in an Excel spreadsheet. Once complete I'll have a list in page order which I can very easily change to keyword order. Then a simple script or two can collapse duplicate keywords to a single entry with page range. Put that into Word and pretty it up a bit and ... presto! I'll p ...More Read More

So the issue of DGP and Roger Sanger came up again today. Again. Years ago, just after Mr Sanger bought DGP, he tried to put together a creative team to finish development of DGP’s planned in-house RPG (called A.I.) In fact several teams. Apparently DGP had suffered a hard disk crash right before they were bought out and lost all the original development. No backups or anything, just a few scant notes.

What was required was to take the initial concept and start over. But Roger had gran ...More Read More

So I was thinking about the question sometimes asked of T5’s Personal Combat, “If a round is a minute long why can’t I fire at multiple targets during a round?” In a traditional deterministic combat system this would be a very good question. Not so in T5 and here’s why:

In traditional systems a round is a unit of time. It is usually defined and fixed.

In T5 a round is a unit of action. The 1 round = 1 minute ‘rule’ is a guideline for determining the total duration of combat, not the d ...More Read More

I kind of fell in love with T5 twice. The first time was when the BBB arrived and I could see all the different options for characters and how it all seemed to interconnect as a coherent whole (not just a toolbox of interesting parts). The second time was when I had an epiphany about Personal Combat.

At first when I read the Personal Combat section I wasn’t sure. Actually, when I first read it I didn’t understand it. But then when I did ... there was all this abstract stuff but I like us ...More Read More
