Began running my house ruled game.

Basics
Task system is derived from DGP-CT, but adding three difficulty levels (trivial, staggering, and absurd), plus adding an explicit Auto level.
Two assets from the following list, max DM +9
  • Skill Level
  • Att/3
  • Terms
  • Computer Model
  • Rank

Auto 0+
Trivial 3+
Simple 6+
Routine 9+
Difficult 12+
Formidable 15+
Staggering 18+
Nearly Impossible 21+
Absurd 24+

Absurd is there because a max DM character on extra time might pull it off.

My FLGS has asked me to run Feng Shui for Free RPG day.

And I'm looking at it, and noticing that it's task mechanics are Traveller-compatible.

It's 1d6-1d6, (both dice open ending upwards), with boxcars (⚅⚅) being roll again but it's exceptional success/failure, then add that to a skill. Skills run between 7 (unskilled) and 18 (elite)... They call the 1d6-1d6 open-ended "swerve" in the same way that T5 uses "Flux" for 1d6-1d6 closed ended.

Systems - Several sectors are being cribbed from Traveller sources.

The Imperium is a Human dominated evil empire - not quite star wars level, but evil for far longer. Centuries. Anagathics and Vilani genetics combine to put emperors on the throne for multiple centuries.

Design Goals:
  1. Small Ship Universe
  2. Less detailed than MT
  3. More detailed than CT Bk5
  4. MT Damage System.
  5. KCr1/Td works for J1 merchants with about 30% profit margin.
  6. Vaguely compatible with MT designs.

Non-goal decisions:
  • Separate LS from Staterooms. So I can knock them out separately.
  • Separate sensors from computers. So I can build scouts with small computers but big sensors.
  • Armor must take volume.

Bk 2 (2E) costs to operate by tonnage and Jump

Ran the numbers for Bk 2.

J1 and J2 both can make a profit at the KCr1 per jump...

J2 does so at 2000Td... J1 at 200 Td.

Wow.

On another score: A GPS is like the Force - it guides your actions, obeys your commands, can be used to figur out where you're supposed to go, and can be really powerful when used against the weak minded...

some percentage abstraction - ships over 1000Td ignoring the 10 crew per 1000Td bizarre minimum, which can only exist to make freighters impossible above 1000Td...

Bk2-'81 is more like (3.15+14.45Jn)% plus 17+11Jn Td (CrewPNM +JDrive flat bit +Comp+10Jn in PPFuel)

I've been running the old WEG d6 Star Wars lately. I've been none too easy on my players; and 2 of the 3 have been spending more Character points on ship improvement and roll boosts than on their characters... So the climb has been slow and steady.

And they bought a new ship rather than try to fix the old one. So, it's a brand new YT1210.
